Saturday the 14th of May, 2016 saw the Central Open Championships take place at Grange College of Arts in Alfreton.

“A Day Packed Full of Lifting”

The day saw a total of 75 lifters to compete for not only gold but for the chance to appear at the British Championships in June – with this competition being the last chance to qualify. Needless to say it was a long day for most with a grand total of 225 Snatches and 225 Clean and Jerks!

With the youngest lifters born in 2008 and the eldest being a Masters lifter (40+) there was a wide variety of participants and great atmosphere all round.

Congratulations to all those who lifted, you can find the results of the competition here

We’d like to extend our thanks for all those who helped make the competition possible; the referees, MCs, coaches, lifters, loaders, Dave Sawyer for the equipment and Steve Cannon for organising the event – if we’ve missed you off, we apologise and please let us know.
